Orb — Privacy Policy
The short version
We don't collect your data. We couldn't if we wanted to: Orb has no developer-operated servers, no accounts, and no analytics. Everything the app knows lives on your devices and, if you choose to self-host, on a computer you own.
What the app stores, and where
- On your iPhone: your settings, conversation history, and anything you grant access to through iOS permissions (microphone for voice input; calendar, reminders, and contacts if you connect them). iOS manages this access, and the app reads only what you connect.
- On your own server (optional): if you connect the app to a computer running the open-source Orb server, your conversations, reminders, and assistant memory are processed and stored there — on hardware you control. We never see it.
Third-party AI services
Orb lets you choose which AI service powers your assistant, using credentials or tools you configure yourself. When your assistant answers a request, the relevant conversation content is sent to the AI provider you selected, under that provider's terms and privacy policy. You can switch or remove providers at any time.
Push notifications
Notifications are delivered through Apple's push service. The notification content originates from your own server (if connected) and is not stored by us.
What we collect
Nothing. No accounts, no analytics SDKs, no tracking, no advertising identifiers, and no developer-operated backend. Standard App Store install statistics are provided to us by Apple in aggregate and contain no personal data.
Release list (website only)
If you submit your email address on getorb.github.io, it is used solely to send Orb release announcements and is never shared or sold. Reply to any announcement to be removed. This applies to the website form only — the app itself collects nothing.
Children
Orb is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
